Apple is not the first, nor will it be the last company to come out with a fingerprint scanner on its newest smartphone. The upcoming HTC One Max, as it’s currently being referred to in tech news, is rumored to be equipped with a biometric fingerprint scanner similar to that on the new Apple iPhone 5S. This device will be one of the newest “phablets” (you’re on notice, Webster’s, new word here) on the market (smartphones bridging the gap between phone and small tablet with a screen measuring between 5 and 7 inches) sporting a 6.3 inch full HD display with a large internal processor. It is expected to release this October and leaks have shown it to have a rear mounted fingerprint reader just below the rear facing camera lens. This will be the third smartphone this year having a fingerprint scanner as its new security measure, being preceded by the Pantech Vega LTE A and the Apple iPhone 5S which also released with similar technology.
The idea of fingerprint scanners on smartphones has been around for nearly a decade. But in the wake of Apples imminent release of its first fingerprint scanner, its competitors consider it a necessary feature to keep up in the market. Consumers will now have the benefit of not being burdened with the task of remembering yet another password for another device. It will give them the peace of mind knowing they have an increased level of security that is unique to only themselves.
